about

Written and recorded Feb 7, 2017

The first to lines came to me while I was at work on this one. I wound up having to go to the bank that day at lunch and I noticed an older couple walking to their car. It kinda pulled me out of this whole writing mode to look at them and wonder what my relationship would be like when I was older.

lyrics

Sitting in the exile of an existential crisis
Somewhere between Jesus and my good friend Dionysus
Thinking of dualities that I can find in nature
For every act of peacefulness I also find a danger

The nature of reality is all about perception
Taking aim at excellence dismissing imperfection
Confidence & happiness that lives behind a window
That anxiety begins to crack and leads to a crescendo

Sorting through the schedules & crossing off the deadlines
Scrolling through the ridicule ignoring all the headlines
And when it's getting too surreal, you appear just to reveal
An older couple walking hand in hand, & I can't help but think that you and me may be just like them

Theres devil's in the details but there's beauty in the story
A cage inside a cave that represents the allegory
You came along to share the light that waits and sits rigt there outside
And when I look into your eyes
I see that my design is all for you
