Phoenix Rising (single)

You will rise up from your ashes But you're gunna have to let yourself burn Wipe the tears away from your lashes Reached the point of no return From the flames you'll face your freedom From the cage you'll cast aside And If your broken heart's still beatin' Spread your wings now and learn to fly Cause you're a Phoenix and you're rising Come on and show 'em how you fly Into a brand new sun that's shining From the darkest soul of night Cause you're a Phoenix and you're rising Come on and shine your guiding light You're a Phoenix And now's the time to rise A spark flys down from the heavens To ignite a brand new day For the misfits and the broken That were left out in the rain To the tired and the weary Even though the night is long The horizon's storm is clearing Sing until the break of dawn Cause you're a Phoenix and you're rising Come on and show 'em how you fly Into a brand new sun that's shining From the darkest soul of night Cause you're a Phoenix and you're rising Come on and shine your guiding light You're a Phoenix And now's the time to rise

about

Written early March 2020 when the covid pandemic began.
It was partially inspired by a quote I saw on the facebooks by Kalen Dion

“Yes,
You will rise from the ashes,
But the burning comes first.

For this part,
Darling,
You must be brave.”

about

Ryan Oyer Chattanooga, Tennessee

The work of singer-songwriter Ryan Oyer is intrinsically tied to personal experience and emotional connection. Universal sentiment and intimate insight are irrevocably intertwined within a landscape of folk-rock rurality and indie rock tenacity. He conjures comfortable evenings & loses himself within the lulling ease of front porch singalongs. -Joshua Pickard "The Southern Sounding" ... more
