Flowers by the Score

from Silver Linings by Ryan Oyer

/

about

The oldest song on the record. The idea came from a Ray LaMontagne song called “No Other Way” off of his “Supernova” album that I heard on Richard Winham’s show one afternoon driving home. To me this tune is as if Elliott Smith covered a Rolling Stones tune in the style of Magical-Mystery-Tour-era Beatles. I’d like to dedicate this song to Mr. Oterious “Sandy” Bell.

lyrics

I thought I built these walls much higher than this
You go and break them down each time we kiss and
I’ll bring you tulips by the score
If that would make you love me more

I don’t know why I feel so scared
My hearts a hummingbird each time you’re there and
I’ll bring you roses by the score
If that would make you love me more

I’ll bring you flowers by the score
If that would make you love me more
I’ll bring you flowers by the score

I don’t know what it is you do
To always make me fall in love with you and
I’ll bring you orchids by the score
If that would make you love me more

I’ll bring you flowers by the score
If that would make you love me more
I’ll bring you flowers by the score

I’ll bring you flowers by the score
I’ll bring you flowers by the score
I’ll bring you flowers by the score
I’ll bring you flowers by the score
